Josiah George Hort was born in 1732.1 He was the son of Most Rev. Josiah Hort and Elizabeth FitzMaurice.1 He married Jane Maria Hawks, daughter of John Hawks, on 14 June 1766.1 He died in 1786, without issue.1
He held the office of High Sheriff of County Kildare in 1758.1 He lived at Hortland, County Kildare, Ireland.1

He inherited much land in Atholl, including Glenerochie.1 Circa 1216 he granted use of woods in Glenerochie to the Abbey of Coupar.1 Circa 1220 he granted a charter to the Abbey of Lindore, and a charter of Tulloch in Atholl.1
