Ruth Brand was the daughter of Major Hon. Charles Brand and Alice Emma Sturgis Van de Weyer.1 She married John William Dodson, 2nd Baron Monk Bretton, son of John George Dodson, 1st Baron Monk Bretton and Florence Campion, on 19 August 1911.1 She died on 5 August 1967.1

John William Dodson, 2nd Baron Monk Bretton was born on 22 September 1869.1 He was the son of John George Dodson, 1st Baron Monk Bretton and Florence Campion.2 He married Ruth Brand, daughter of Major Hon. Charles Brand and Alice Emma Sturgis Van de Weyer, on 19 August 1911.2 He died on 29 July 1933 at age 63.1
He was Attaché of the Diplomatic Service between 1894 and 1897.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Monk Bretton, of Conybro and Hurstpierpoint, co. Sussex [U.K., 1884] on 25 May 1897.1 He was Assistant Private Secretary to the Foreign Secretary.1 He gained the rank of Major in 1918 in the Sussex Yeomanry.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Sussex.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for London.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Sussex.1 He held the office of Member of the London County Council between 1922 and 1933.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1
