Colonel Edward Stirling Rivett-Carnac was born on 14 September 1841.1 He was also reported to have been born on 13 September 1840 at Marylebone, London, England.2 He was the son of Admiral John Edward Rivett-Carnac and Maria Jane Davis.3 He married Sophia Glennie, daughter of John Irving Glennie, on 12 March 1872 at Trinity Church, Marylebone, London, England.1,2 He died on 28 February 1888 at age 46 at Stonycroft, Southsea, Hampshire, England.1,2
He was Military Secretary to the Governor of Bombay between 1877 and 1880.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 11th Hussars.1
