Jane Cruikshank was the daughter of Patrick Cruikshank of Stracathro.2 She married Captain Thomas Ramsay, son of Sir Alexander Ramsay of Balmain, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Bannerman, on 9 November 1816.1 She died in November 1823.1

Lt.-Col. William Burnett-Ramsay was born on 11 April 1821.1 He was the son of Captain Thomas Ramsay and Jane Cruikshank.2 He married Anne Davidson, daughter of Duncan Davidson of Inchmarlo, on 26 July 1854.1 He died on 6 November 1865 at age 44.1
He was given the name of William Ramsay at birth.1 His name was legally changed to William Burnett-Ramsay.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Rifle Brigade.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Forfar and Kincardine Militia Artillery.1 He lived at Banchory Lodge, Banchory, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1 They had two other daughters who died unmarried.1
