     Frederick Richard Brown was born on 16 December 1910 at Lima, Peru.2 He was the son of Roger Grounds Brown.3 He married Hon. Marjorie Elizabeth Palmer, daughter of Ernest Cecil Nottage Palmer, 2nd Baron Palmer and Marguerite Osborne, on 9 June 1945.1 He died on 24 July 1991 at age 80 at Ramsbury, Wiltshire, England.1,2
     He was educated at Leys School, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.4 He was educated at St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.4 Between 1931 and 1953 he played 22 cricket test matches for England, 15 as captain.2 He fought in the Second World War, including in Crete, and became a POW at Tobruk.4 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1942.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Army Service Corps (R.A.S.C.)1 He was president of the Marylebone Cricket Club in 1971.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1980.5
