Michael Edward Hicks-Beach, 1st Earl Saint Aldwyn was born on 23 October 1837 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England.1 He was the son of Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, 8th Bt. and Harriett Vittoria Stratton.2 He married, firstly, Caroline Susan Elwes, daughter of John Henry Elwes and Mary Bromley, on 6 January 1864 at South Molton, Devon, England.1 He married, secondly, Lady Lucy Catherine Fortescue, daughter of Hugh Fortescue, 3rd Earl Fortescue and Georgiana Augusta Charlotte Caroline Dawson-Damer, on 3 September 1874 at South Molton, Devon, England.3,1 He died on 30 April 1916 at age 78 at London, England.1

Michael Hugh Hicks-Beach, Viscount Quenington was born on 19 January 1877.1 He was the son of Michael Edward Hicks-Beach, 1st Earl Saint Aldwyn and Lady Lucy Catherine Fortescue.1 He married Marjorie Brocklehurst, daughter of Captain Henry Dent Brocklehurst and Marion Lascelles, on 28 September 1909.1 He died on 23 April 1916 at age 39 at EgyptG, killed in action.1
