Aodh 'Ruadh' O'Donnell1

Aodh 'Ruadh' O'Donnell was born circa 1572.1 He was the son of Sir Aodh O'Donnell and Finola Macdonald.2 He died in 1602 at Simancas, Spain, without issue, probably of natural causes rather than by poisoning, rumours to the contrary notwithstanding.1
He was allied in resisting English attempts to subdue Ireland with Aedh/Hugh O'Neill, last King of Ulster and 3rd and last Earl of Tyrone.1 In 1592 he was incarcerated Dublin Castle by the English, but escaped.1 He held the position of Chief of the Name from in 1592.1 He fought in the Battle of Kinsal in 1607, after which he left Ireland with Aedh O'Neill, King of Ulster.1
