Alice Elizabeth O'Connell was born on 26 July 1818.1 She was the daughter of Sir Maurice Charles Philip O'Connell and Mary Bligh.2,3 She married Colonel Henry Charles Capel Somerset, son of Reverend Lord William George Henry Somerset and Elizabeth Molyneux, on 10 September 1840.2 She died on 29 August 1892 at age 74.1

Sir Maurice Charles Philip O'Connell was born (formerly Riverstown) on 11 September 1766 at Ballynahown, St. Finan's Bay, County Kerry, Ireland.1 He was the son of Charles Connell FitzPhilip O'Connell and Alicia O'Connell.2 He married Mary Bligh, daughter of Vice-Admiral William Bligh and Elizabeth Betham, on 8 May 1810.1 He died on 25 May 1848 at age 81 at Sydney, New South Wales, AustraliaG.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the French Army, under the Duke of Brunswick in the early stages of the French Revolutionary Wars.1 He was commissioned in 1794, in the service of the British Army under the terms negotiated for the Irish Brigade by his kinsman Count Daniel Charles O'Connell.1 He fought in the Napoleonic Wars.1 He was commander of the 1st Battalion, 73rd Regiment.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Hanoverian Order (K.C.H.)3 He was Acting Lieutenant-Governor of New South Wales.1 He was commanding officer of the the forces in Australia between 1838 and 1846 and he settled there permanently.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Hanoverian Order (K.C.H.)1
