Matilda Methuen was the daughter of Paul Cobb Methuen and Matilda Gooch.2 She married Lt.-Gen. George de Grey, 3rd Baron Walsingham, son of Thomas de Grey, 2nd Baron Walsingham and Hon. Augusta Georgina Elizabeth Irby, on 16 May 1804.2 She died on 27 April 1831, without issue in a fire at her house, after jumping from an upstairs window to avoid the flames, dying six hours later from her injuries.1
After her marriage, Matilda Methuen was styled as Baroness Walsingham on 16 January 1818.
