Caroline Elizabeth Sarah Sheridan1

     Caroline Elizabeth Sarah Sheridan was born circa 1812 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England.2 She was the daughter of Thomas Sheridan and Caroline Henrietta Callander.1 She married, firstly, Hon. George Chapple Norton, son of Hon. Fletcher Norton and Caroline Elizabeth Balmain, on 30 July 1827.1 She married, secondly, Sir William Stirling-Maxwell, 9th Bt., son of Archibald Stirling, 14th of Keir and 11th of Cadder and Elizabeth Maxwell, on 1 March 1877.1 She died on 15 June 1877.1
     From 30 July 1827, her married name became Norton. In 1855 she took her fight for the rights of wives to Queen Victoria in a 3000 word pamphlet called a letter to the Queen on Lord Chancellor’s Cranworth’s Marriage & Divorce Bill. Her writings influenced the 1857 Matrimonial Causes Act & the 1870 Married Married Women’s Property Act.2 From 1 March 1877, her married name became Stirling-Maxwell.

     Hon. Fletcher Norton was born on 16 November 1744.1 He was the son of Fletcher Norton, 1st Lord Grantley, Baron of Markenfield and Grace Chapple.1 He married Caroline Elizabeth Balmain, daughter of James Balmain, in 1793.1 He died in 1820.1
     He held the office of Baron of the Exchequer [Scotland].1

Fletcher Norton, 1st Lord Grantley, Baron of Markenfield1

     Fletcher Norton, 1st Lord Grantley, Baron of Markenfield was born on 23 June 1716.1 He was the son of Thomas Norton and Elizabeth Serjeantson.2 He married Grace Chapple, daughter of Sir William Chapple, on 21 May 1741.1 He died on 1 June 1789 at age 72.1
     He was a practising barrister in 1739.1 He was appointed King's Counsel (K.C.) in 1754.1 He held the office of Recorder of Guildford.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Appleby between 1756 and 1761.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Wigan between 1761 and 1768.1 He was appointed Knight in 1762.1 He held the office of Solicitor-General between 1762 and 1763.1 He held the office of Attorney-General between 1763 and 1765.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Guildford between 1768 and 1782.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1769.1 He held the office of Speaker, House of Commons between 1770 and 1780.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.)1 He was created 1st Lord Grantley, Baron of Markenfield, co. York [Great Britain] on 9 April 1782.1

     Eduard Vincenz Heinrich Prinz zu Windisch-Grätz was born on 15 July 1891. He was the son of Hugo Prinz zu Windisch-Grätz and Christine Prinzessin von Auersperg. He married Alexandra Prinzessin von Isenburg, daughter of Franz Joseph Prinz von Isenburg and Friederike Prinzessin zu Solms-Braunfels, on 4 June 1923 at Birstein, GermanyG, in a civil marriage. They were remarried in a religious ceremony on 14 June 1923. He died on 15 February 1976 at age 84.
     He gained the title of Prinz zu Windisch-Grätz.
