     Sir David McCowan, 1st Bt. was born on 8 December 1860.¹ He was the son of Hew McCowan and Joanna McCall.² He married Gertrude Margaret Cargill, daughter of David Sime Cargill, on 1 October 1889.¹ He died on 15 May 1937 at age 76.¹
     He gained the rank of Major in the 8th Scottish Rifles.¹ He was director of George Outram & Company and Burma Oils.¹ He was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers.¹ He was senior partner of William Euing & Company, marine insurance brokers.¹ He was appointed Knight in 1928.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Glasgow.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Glasgow.¹ He was created 1st Baronet McCowan, of Dalwhat, co. Dumfries [U.K.] on 26 June 1934.¹

     David Sime Cargill lived at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹

     Gertrude Margaret Cargill was the daughter of David Sime Cargill.² She married Sir David McCowan, 1st Bt., son of Hew McCowan and Joanna McCall, on 1 October 1889.¹ She died on 2 March 1935.¹
     From 1 October 1889, her married name became McCowan. She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1932.¹

     Hew McCowan was born on 13 August 1890.¹ He was the son of Sir David McCowan, 1st Bt. and Gertrude Margaret Cargill.² He died on 28 June 1915 at age 24 at Gallipoli, Turkey, killed in action.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 8th Battalion, Scottish Rifles.¹ He fought in the Gallipoli Campaign.¹

     Sir David James Cargill McCowan, 2nd Bt. was born on 5 June 1897.¹ He was the son of Sir David McCowan, 1st Bt. and Gertrude Margaret Cargill.² He married Muriel Emma Annie Willmott, daughter of William Charles Willmott, on 24 October 1928.¹ He died on 29 August 1965 at age 68.¹
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet McCowan, of Dalwhat, co. Dumfries [U.K., 1934] on 15 May 1937.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Dunbartonshire between 1953 and 1961.¹

     Margaret Elizabeth McCowan was born on 20 May 1894.¹ She was the daughter of Sir David McCowan, 1st Bt. and Gertrude Margaret Cargill.² She married Alexander Osborne Bonnar, son of William Bonnar, on 24 November 1931.¹
     From 24 November 1931, her married name became Bonnar.

     William Bonnar lived at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹

     Alexander Osborne Bonnar is the son of William Bonnar.² He married Margaret Elizabeth McCowan, daughter of Sir David McCowan, 1st Bt. and Gertrude Margaret Cargill, on 24 November 1931.¹
