     Captain William Stirling was born on 23 August 1789.2 He was the son of William Stirling, 13th of Keir and 10th of Cadder and Jean Stewart.3,2 He married Anne Charlotte Maitland, daughter of Sir Alexander Charles Maitland, 2nd Bt. and Helen Gibson-Wright, on 1 June 1822 at Carmunnock, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1,4 He died in December 1826 at age 37.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 1st Dragoon Guards.1
