Humphrey Mackworth was the son of Richard Mackworth and Dorothy Cranage.2 He married, firstly, Anne Waller, daughter of Thomas Waller, circa 28 May 1624.1 He married, secondly, Mary Venables, daughter of Thomas Venables, circa 12 July 1638.1 He died circa 23 December 1654.1 He was buried on 26 December 1654.1
He lived at Betton Grange, Meole Brace, Shropshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Colone in May 1646 in the Parliamentary army at the taking of Ludlow Castle.1 He held the office of Governor of Shrewsbury in June 1646.1 He was member of Cromwell's council.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Shropshire, in Cromwell's second Parliament.1
