John MacGregor was the son of Duncan MacGregor, 3rd of Glencarnoch and Beatrix MacNiven.2 He died on 23 March 1784 at Batavia, Indonesia.1

Evan MacGregor was born circa 1715.2 He was the son of John MacGregor of Glencarnoch in Balquhidder and Catherine Campbell.2 He married Janet Macdonald, daughter of John Macdonald, 1st of Balconie.1 He died on 29 October 1778.2
He was also known as Evan Murray.1 He fought in the Jacobite Uprising in 1745.2 He gained the rank of Jacobite Major in 1745, and Aide-de-Camp to Bonnie Prince Charlie.1 He fought in the Battle of Prestonpans, where he fired the first shot against Sir John Cope's army and distinguished himself, the Prince presenting him with a dirk (worn by subsequent Chiefs.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 88th Highlanders.1 He fought in the Seven Years War.2
