     Margaret Cochran was the daughter of John Cochran and Margaret Craig.2,1 She married James Stevenson, son of James Stevenson and Jean Hastie, in 1780.1 She died in 1827.1

     James Stevenson was born on 28 April 1786.1 He was the son of James Stevenson and Margaret Cochran.2 He married Jane Stewart Shannan, daughter of Alexander Shannan, in 1824.1 He died on 13 June 1866 at age 80.1
     He held the office of Burgess of Glasgow in 1817.1 He was partner of Oswald Stevenson & Company.1 He was senior partner of Jarrow Chemical Company.1 He was founder of the Shields Gazette.1 He was founder and director of Sunderland & South Shields Water Company.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for South Shields.1
