Fred Kershaw, 1st Baron Kershaw was born on 6 November 1881.1 He was the son of John Joseph Kershaw and Sarah Ann Birchall.2 He married Frances Edith Wigmore, daughter of James Thomas Wigmore, on 18 July 1903.1 He died on 5 February 1961 at age 79.1
He was educated at Church of England School, Prestwich, Lancashire, England.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1931.1 He was created 1st Baron Kershaw, of Prestwich, co. Palatine of Lancaster [U.K.] on 20 January 1947.1 He held the office of Lord-in-Waiting between 1948 and 1951.1 He was an advisor for investments to trade unions, friendly societies and approved societies.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Middlesex.1 He was a chairman of courts referees, appeals boards and reinstatement committees.1
