     Arthur Patrick Hastings Forbes, 9th Earl of Granard was born on 10 April 1915.1 He was the son of Bernard Arthur William Patrick Hastings Forbes, 8th Earl of Granard and Beatrice Mills.1 He married Marie Madeleine Eugenie Maurel, daughter of Jean Maurel, on 29 July 1949.1 He died on 21 November 1992 at age 77.1,2
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1937 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.1 He gained the rank of Air Commodore in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre avec palmes.1 He was awarded the Croix des Vaillants of Poland.1 He was awarded the Order of George I of Greece with crossed swords.1 He was awarded the Legion of Merit U.S.1 He held the office of Vice-Admiral of Connaught.1 He succeeded as the 9th Viscount of Granard, co.      Marie Madeleine Eugenie Maurel was the daughter of Jean Maurel.1 She married, firstly, Prince Humbert de Faucigny-Lucinge before 1949.1 She married, secondly, Arthur Patrick Hastings Forbes, 9th Earl of Granard, son of Bernard Arthur William Patrick Hastings Forbes, 8th Earl of Granard and Beatrice Mills, on 29 July 1949.1 She died in 1990.1
     From before 1949, her married name became de Faucigny-Lucinge.1 From 29 July 1949, her married name became Forbes. After her marriage, Marie Madeleine Eugenie Maurel was styled as Countess of Granard on 29 July 1949.
