Gilbert Edward George Lariston Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, 6th Earl of Minto was born on 19 June 1928.1 He was the son of Victor Gilbert Lariston Garnet Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, 5th Earl of Minto and Marion Cook.1 He married, firstly, Lady Caroline Child-Villiers, daughter of George Francis Child-Villiers, 9th Earl of the Island of Jersey and Patricia Kenneth Richards, on 26 November 1952.2 He and Lady Caroline Child-Villiers were divorced in 1965.2 He married, secondly, Mary Elizabeth Ballantine, daughter of Peter Ballantine, on 10 July 1965.1 He married, thirdly, Caroline Jean Godfrey, daughter of Stanley Godfrey, in 1991.1 He died on 7 September 2005 at age 77.3
