Montague George Johnstone was born on 21 March 1848.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Montague Cholmeley Johnstone and Leonora Louisa Somerset.2 He married Agnes Harrison, daughter of Joseph Harrison, on 10 July 1880.1 He died on 12 June 1928 at age 80.1
He was Aide-de-Camp to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland in 1880.1 He fought in the Bechuanaland Campaign between 1884 and 1885, on HQ Staff.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 He fought in the Boer War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Scots Guards.1 He was Honorary Colonel and Lieutenant-Colonel of the 3rd Battalion, Yorkshire Light Infantry.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 4th Battalion, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles.)1

Major Montague Joseph Charles Somerset Johnstone was born on 16 June 1882.1 He was the son of Montague George Johnstone and Agnes Harrison.2 He married, firstly, Victoria Louise Stewart, daughter of James Stewart, on 31 October 1906.1 He married, secondly, Mary Marian Spottiswood Bayley, daughter of George Bayley, in 1916.1 He and Mary Marian Spottiswood Bayley were divorced in 1928.1 He married, thirdly, Margaret Fraser, daughter of Sir John Foster Fraser, on 17 February 1928.1 He died on 7 September 1953 at age 71.1
