Lt.-Col. George Harold Hay was born on 30 August 1893.1 He was the son of William Hope Hay and Emma Elizabeth Bates.1 He married Patricia Mary Hugonin, daughter of Major Etienne Hugonin, on 20 July 1935.1 He died on 13 December 1967 at age 74.1
He was educated at Highland School, Hamilton, Ontario, CanadaG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario, CanadaG.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Scots.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Berwickshire in 1948.1
