Captain Robert Annan was born on 16 May 1885.1 He was the son of John Annan and Marion Gilroy.1 He married Dely Weston, daughter of Everett Loraine Weston, on 27 September 1911.1
He was educated at Uppingham School, Uppingham, Rutland, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Columbia University, Manhattan, New York City, New York, U.S.A.G.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Engineers.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was Chairman of Consolidated Goldfields of South Africa between 1944 and 1960.1 He was President of Consolidated Goldfields of South Africa in 1960.1
