Donald Gunn was born circa 1737.1 He was the son of George Gunn of Corrish and Isabel Polson.2 He married Mary Gunn, daughter of Lt.-Col. William Gunn and Anne Ross, on 5 July 1763.1 He died on 29 March 1807 at MeppelG, without surviving issue.1
He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Dutch Service.1 In 1785 although he was next heir, he was barred from succession by alienage and passed over, having sworn allegiance to the King of Holland in 1782.1
