Maj.-Gen. Arthur Alec Goschen was born on 6 January 1880.1 He was the son of Henry Goschen and Augusta Eleanor Shakerley.2 He married Marjorie Mary Blacker, daughter of Major William Blacker, on 2 April 1908.1 He died on 28 June 1975 at age 95.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Boer War.1 He was awarded the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1901 and two bars (1916 and 1918.)1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.1 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM Goerge V between 1932 and 1934.1 He was Commandant between 1934 and 1938 at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1935.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Artillery.1 He was Colonel-Commandant of the Royal Horse Artillery between 1942 and 1948.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Gloucestershire in 1953.1
