Rear-Admiral Sir Lionel Arthur Doveton Sturdee, 2nd Bt. was born on 3 September 1884.2 He was the son of Admiral of the Fleet Sir Frederick Charles Doveton Sturdee, 1st Bt. and Marion Adela Andrews.3 He married Dorothy Mary Mowbray Sayer, daughter of William Feetham Sayer and Edith Alexandra Bell, on 3 February 1910.2 He died on 19 December 1970 at age 86.3,4
He was educated at Stanmore Park School.2 He was commissioned in 1899, in the service of the Royal Navy.2 He was educated at H.M.S.
