S/Ldr. Philip Algernon Hunter was born on 11 April 1913 at Frimley, Surrey, England.2 He was the son of Albert Hunter.2 He married Eleanor Margaret Christie.1 He died on 24 August 1940 at age 27, killed in action flying a Defiant above Manston.1,3
He was commissioned in September 1931 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Royal Air Force.3 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Squadron Leader in the Royal Air Force.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (D.F.C.) in 1940.1
