     John Richard Eyre was born in 1859.1 He was the son of Richard Eyre and Monimia Mary Butler.2 He married, firstly, Augusta Margaretta M. Allen, daughter of Luke Allen, in 1881 at Strand, London, England.1,3 He married, secondly, Jane Rosalie R. Sanders in 1898 at Kingston-on-Thames, Surrey, England.1,3 He died on 9 June 1925, without issue.1
     He lived at RichmondG.1

     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He served in campaigns in Basutoland and Bechuanaland with the Cape Mounted Rifles.1 He was with Mashonaland Police Force.1 He lived at Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South AfricaG.1
