Colonel James Crosbie was the son of Pierse Crosbie and Frances Bateman.2 He married Elizabeth Bateman, daughter of Lt.-Col. Rowland Bateman and Letitia Denny, in 1785.1 He died on 20 September 1836.1
He held the office of High Sheriff of County Kerry in 1792.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) between 1798 and 1800.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) between 1801 and 1806.1 He held the office of Custos Rotulorum for County Kerry.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) between 1812 and 1826.1 He lived at Ballyheigue, County Kerry, IrelandG, (he rebuilt the Castle from 1806-12.)1
