     From 2 May 1908, her married name became Devitt.

     Howson Charles Devitt was born on 30 January 1909.¹ He was the son of Howson Foulger Devitt and Winifred Lina Woolicombe.² He married Elizabeth Carola Fairholme, daughter of Edward George Fairholme, on 2 September 1939.¹ He died on 9 February 1996 at age 87.¹
     He was educated at Sherborne School, Sherborne, Dorset, England^G.¹ He graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Wing Commander in the RAFO.¹ He was chairman of Howson F. Devitt and Sons, Howson Devitt (Agents), Douglas Cox Tyler and Co.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1941.¹ He was Governor of Pangbourne College.¹
