General Sir Alexander John Godley was born on 4 February 1867.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. William Alexander Godley and Laura Bird.2 He married Louisa Marion Fowler, daughter of Robert Fowler and Laetitia Mabella Coddington, on 17 September 1898.1 He died on 6 March 1957 at age 90, without issue.1

Robert Fowler was born on 15 March 1824.2 He was the son of Robert Fowler and Jane Anne Crichton.3,2 He married Laetitia Mabella Coddington, daughter of Henry Barry Coddington and Maria Crawford, on 30 September 1856.2 He died on 23 October 1897 at age 73.2
