Sir John Cotton, 4th Bt. was the son of John Cotton and Frances Downing.1,2 He married Elizabeth Herbert, daughter of Hon. James Herbert and Lady Catherine Osborne, in 1708.2,3 He died on 5 February 1730/31 at North Street, London, EnglandG, without issue.2 He was buried at St. George the Martyr, Queen Square, London, EnglandG.3
He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Cotton, of Connington, co. Huntingdon [E., 1611] on 12 September 1702.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Huntingdon from 1705 to 22 January 1705/6.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Huntingdonshire between 1710 and 1713.2
