Alexander Montgomery-Cuninghame was the son of Sir David Cuninghame of Corsehill, 3rd Bt. and Penelope Montgomery.2 He married Elizabeth Montgomery, daughter of David Montgomery.1 He died in January 1770.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the Army.1 He fought in the wars in Flanders.1 He was given the name of Alexander Cuninghame at birth.2 His name was legally changed to Montgomery-Cuninghame on inheriting the Kirktonholm estate.2

Sir Walter Montgomery-Cuninghame of Corsehill, 4th Bt. was the son of Alexander Montgomery-Cuninghame and Elizabeth Montgomery.2 He died in March 1814, unmarried.1
He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Cuninghame, of Corsehill, co. Ayr [N.S., 1672] on 4 July 1770.1 In 1797 he claimed the Earldom of Glencairn.1
