     Brigadier Henry Anthony Lampen Shewell was born on 15 March 1899 at Exmouth, Devon, England.² He was the son of Major Harry Williamson Macan Shewell and Ethel Frances Lampen.² He married Alda Evelyn Hoare, daughter of Henry Lennox Merrik Noel Colt Hoare and Evelyn Augusta Gerard, on 29 January 1929.¹ He died in 1974 at Torbay, Devon, England.²
     He gained the rank of Brigadier in the Royal Engineers.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)¹
