     Sir Lionel Edward Darell, 5th Bt. was born on 6 September 1845.¹ He was the son of Reverend Sir William Lionel Darell, 4th Bt. and Harriet Mary Tierny.² He married Helen Frances Marshland, daughter of Edward Marshland, on 26 June 1870.¹ He died on 17 February 1919 at age 73.¹
     He held the office of Member of the Gloucestershire County Council.² He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Darell, of Ancaster House, Richmond Hill, Surrey [G.B., 1795] on 1 June 1883.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Gloucestershire in 1887.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Gloucestershire.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Gloucestershire Yeomanry Cavalry.² He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Gloucestershire.¹

     Helen Frances Marshland was the daughter of Edward Marshland.² She married Sir Lionel Edward Darell, 5th Bt., son of Reverend Sir William Lionel Darell, 4th Bt. and Harriet Mary Tierny, on 26 June 1870.¹ She died on 25 September 1937.¹
     From 26 June 1870, her married name became Darell.
