General Sir Alexander Frank Philip Christison, 4th Bt. was born on 17 November 1893.1 He was the son of Sir Alexander Christison, 2nd Bt. and Florence Elworthy.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Mitchell in 1916.2 He married, secondly, Vida Wallace-Smith in 1974.2 He died on 21 December 1993 at age 100 at Melrose, Roxburghshire, Scotland.2
General Sir Alexander Frank Philip Christison, 4th Bt. usually went by his middle name of Philip.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1915.3 He fought in the Second World War.2 He wrote the book Birds of Northern Baluchistan, published 1940.2 He was commanding officer of the 23rd and 15th Indian Corps between 1942 and 1945.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1943.3 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1944. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1945.3 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Christison on 15 May 1945.
