Sir William John Crossley, 1st Bt. was born on 22 April 1844.1 He was the son of Francis Crossley and Elizabeth Helen Irwin.2 He married Mabel Gordon Anderson, daughter of Francis Anderson, on 20 April 1876.1 He died on 12 October 1911 at age 67.1
He was director of Manchester Ship Canal.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Cheshire.1 He was chairman of Crossley Brothers at Manchester, Lancashire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Manchester.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) Maurice de Prendergast died in 1205.1
He gained the title of Lord of Prendergast [feudal baron].1 In 1169 he was one of the Cambro-Norman knights who went with Strongbow, Earl of Pembroke, to Ireland.1 In 1177 he gave Prendergast Castle in Wales to the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, and eventually joined that order.1 He was Prior of Kilmainham.1
