Sir Hew Dalrymple of North Berwick, 1st Bt. was born circa 1653.1 He was the son of James Dalrymple, 1st Viscount of Stair and Margaret Ross.1 He married, firstly, Marion Hamilton, daughter of Sir Robert Hamilton, Lord Pressmennan, on 12 March 1682.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Hamilton, daughter of John Hamilton of Olivestob, before 1712.1 He died on 1 February 1737.1
He was a practising advocate in 1677.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for New Galloway [Scotland] between 1696 and 1702.1 He held the office of Lord President of the Court of Sesson between 1698 and 1737.2 He was created 1st Baronet Dalrymple, of North Berwick, co.
