John Hay, 12th Earl of Erroll was the son of Sir Andrew Hay and Margaret Kinnaird.1 He married Lady Anne Drummond, daughter of James Drummond, 3rd Earl of Perth and Lady Anne Gordon, circa 1 October 1674.1 He died on 30 December 1704.1

James Drummond, 3rd Earl of Perth was born in 1615.2 He was the son of John Drummond, 2nd Earl of Perth and Lady Jean Ker.1,3 He married Lady Anne Gordon, daughter of George Gordon, 2nd Marquess of Huntly and Lady Anne Campbell, on 6 November 1639.2 He died on 2 June 1675.2
He gained the rank of Colonel in 1640 in the Infantry Regiment, Scottish Army.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1643 in the Perthshire Regiment of Foot, Parliamentary Army.1 He fought in the Battle of Philiphaugh in 1645, where he fought for the Royalists, and was captured.1 He gained the rank of Colonel of Horse in 1650 in the Royalist Army.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) Mary Hay, Countess of Erroll was the daughter of John Hay, 12th Earl of Erroll and Lady Anne Drummond.1 She married Alexander Hay of Delgaty, son of David Falconer, 4th Lord Falconer of Halkertoun and Lady Catherine Margaret Keith, circa August 1722.1 She died on 19 August 1758, without issue.1
