Douglas Halyburton Cairns and Lady Constance Anne Montagu Douglas Scott.2 He married Diana Katherine Soames, daughter of Captain Arthur Granville Soames and Hope Mary Woodbine Parish, on 28 September 1939.1 He died on 4 March 1996 at age 85 at Melrose, Roxburghshire, Scotland.3
He fought in the Second World War, where he was wounded.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Cameron Highlanders.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1944.1
