     Lewis Arthur Milles-Lade, 3rd Earl Sondes was born on 3 October 1866 at Kent, EnglandG.1 He was the son of George Watson Milles, 1st Earl Sondes and Charlotte Stracey.2 He married Emma Beatrice Wallace, daughter of Percy Hale Wallace, on 9 September 1913.3 He died on 17 January 1941 at age 74, without issue.3
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 72nd (Rough Riders) Company, 20th Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry.4 He fought in the Boer War.4 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl Sondes [U.K., 1880] on 1 October 1907.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount Throwley, of Lees Court, co. Kent [U.K., 1880] on 1 October 1907.2 He succeeded as the 7th Baron Sondes, of Lees Court, co. Kent [G.B., 1760] on 1 October 1907.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 3rd Battalion, Yorkshire Light Infantry.3
