Lieutenant Richard Blakeney was born in 1788.1 He was the son of Lieutenant John Edward Blakeney and Frances Bradley.1 He married Susan Maria Purdon, daughter of James Batty Purdon and Magdalen Ireland, on 21 August 1816.1 He died on 26 September 1848.1
He was aboard the HMS Horatio, mentioned in despatches from Captain Sir George Scott in 1809.1 He was also aboard the HMS African, and the HMS Queen Charlotte.1 He was invalided from the military in 1819, with the rank of Lieutenant, late of the 14th Royal Marine Light Infantry.1 He lived at Ballymurry, County Roscommon, IrelandG.1
