Frederick Godber, 1st and last Baron Godber was born on 6 November 1888.2 He was the son of Edward Godber and Marion Louise Peach.2 He married Violet Ethel Beatrice Lovesy, daughter of George Albert Lovesy, on 29 August 1914.2 He died on 10 April 1976 at age 87.3
He was president of Rhoxana Corporation between 1922 and 1928.2 He was director of Shell Union Oil Corporation between 1922 and 1946.2 He was chairman of Shell Union Oil Corporation between 1937 and 1946.2 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1942.2 He was chairman and managing director of Shell Transport and Trading Oil Company Ltd between 1946 and 1961.2 He was chairman of Shell Petroleum Company Ltd between 1946 and 1961.2 He was chairman of Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company Ltd between 1946 and 1961.2 He was created 1st Baron Godber, of Mayfield in the County of Sussex [U.K.] on 23 January 1956.2 He was chairman of Commonwealth Development Finance Company Ltd in 1968.2 On his death, his title became extinct.3
