Rt. Hon. Sir John Stewart, 1st Bt. was born in 1757.2 He was the son of Reverend Hugh Stewart and Sarah Hamilton.3,4 He married Mary Archdall, daughter of Colonel Mervyn Archdall and Hon. Mary Dawson, on 4 June 1789.1 He died on 22 June 1825.1
He held the office of Attorney-General [Ireland] in 1799, where he drafted the Act of Union.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Tyrone between 1802 and 1806.4 He was created 1st Baronet Stewart, of Athenree, co. Tyrone [U.K.] on 21 June 1803.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Tyrone between 1812 and 1825.4 He lived at Athenree, County Tyrone, IrelandG.1
