But he took the trouble to understnad, and when he understood, his critical faculty enabled him to appreciate what was good as well as to see what appeared to him faulty ... He believed the Entente with France not only to be practicable, but to be the policy which was best for his own country, for France, and for Europe generally."1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.2

Vice-Admiral Hon. Henry Carr Glyn was born on 17 April 1829.2 He was the son of George Carr Glyn, 1st Baron Wolverton and Marianne Grenfell.2 He married Rose Mahoney, daughter of Reverend Denis Mahoney, on 23 September 1858.2 He died on 16 February 1884 at age 54, with a daughter (died unm):.2
