     Francis Leveson Bertie, 1st Viscount Bertie of Thame was born on 17 August 1844.1 He was the son of Montagu Bertie, 6th Earl of Abingdon and Elizabeth Lavinia Vernon-Harcourt.1 He married Lady Feodorowna Cecilia Wellesley, daughter of Henry Richard Charles Wellesley, 1st Earl Cowley and Hon. Olivia Cecilia FitzGerald-de Ros, on 11 April 1874 at Draycott, Staffordshire, EnglandG.1 He died on 26 September 1919 at age 75 at London, EnglandG.1 He was buried on 30 September 1919 at Thame, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1

     Lord Grey of Faldon wrote that "his work and the position he made for himself as Ambassador [in Paris] were fo the highest value to his country. Indeed his personality, in that very important and delicate post, had much to do with the maintenance of the Entente between Britain and France during years that were very difficult and critical ... It was not in him to appear to agree when he differed ... He was thoroughly English in point of view and outlook ... But he took the trouble to understnad, and when he understood, his critical faculty enabled him to appreciate what was good as well as to see what appeared to him faulty ... He believed the Entente with France not only to be practicable, but to be the policy which was best for his own country, for France, and for Europe generally."1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.2

Olivia Cecilia FitzGerald-de Ros was born on 11 January 1807.2 She was the daughter of Lord Henry FitzGerald and Charlotte Boyle, Baroness de Ros of Helmsley.2 She married Henry Richard Charles Wellesley, 1st Earl Cowley, son of Henry Wellesley, 1st Baron Cowley of Wesley and Lady Charlotte Cadogan, on 23 October 1833.2 She died on 21 April 1885 at age 78 at 20 Albemarle Street, London, EnglandG.2 She was buried at Draycott, Wiltshire, EnglandG.2 Her will was proven (by probate) on 25 June 1885, at £2,854.2
     She held the office of Maid of Honour to Queen Adelaide.2 Her married name became Wellesley. After her marriage, Hon. Maria Margaret Craven, on 19 November 1836.2 He died on 5 November 1876 at age 73.2

Vice-Admiral Hon. Henry Carr Glyn1

     Vice-Admiral Hon. Henry Carr Glyn was born on 17 April 1829.2 He was the son of George Carr Glyn, 1st Baron Wolverton and Marianne Grenfell.2 He married Rose Mahoney, daughter of Reverend Denis Mahoney, on 23 September 1858.2 He died on 16 February 1884 at age 54, with a daughter (died unm):.2
     He fought in the Crimean War in 1854, and received a gold medal for distinguished services on the Danube under Omah Pasha, and was present with the naval brigade before Sebastopol and at its bombardment.2 He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral.2 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Victoria.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.)2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1
