Sir John Swinton, 7th of Kimmerghame was born on 21 April 1925.¹ He was the son of Brigadier Alan Henry Campbell Swinton, 6th of Kimmerghame and Mariora Beatrice Evelyn Rochfort Alers-Hankey.¹ He married Judith Balfour Killen, daughter of Harold Killen, on 26 August 1954.¹ He died on 4 October 2018 at age 93.²

Sir John Swinton, 7th of Kimmerghame, son of Brigadier Alan Henry Campbell Swinton, 6th of Kimmerghame and Mariora Beatrice Evelyn Rochfort Alers-Hankey, on 26 August 1954.¹ She died on 24 October 2012 at age 83.²
