Catherine Tudor Hughes was the daughter of Reverend John Hughes.2 She married John Roberts, son of David Roberts and Jane Roberts, on 23 May 1861.1 She died on 13 September 1880.1

John Herbert Roberts, 1st Baron Clwyd was born on 8 August 1863.1 He was the son of John Roberts and Catherine Tudor Hughes.2 He married Hannah Rushton Caine, daughter of William Sproston Caine, on 1 August 1893.1 He died on 19 December 1955 at age 92.2
He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1884 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1888 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for West Denbighshire between 1892 and 1918.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Denbighshire.1 He was created 1st Baronet Roberts, of Abergele, co. Denbigh [U.K.] on 25 July 1908.1 He was chairman of the Welsh Liberal Parliamentary Party between 1912 and 1918.2 He was a Commissioner for Temporalities under the Welsh Church Act after 1914.2 He was created 1st Baron Clwyd, of Abergele, co. Denbigh [U.K.] on 19 May 1919.2

Hannah Rushton Caine was the daughter of William Sproston Caine.2 She married John Herbert Roberts, 1st Baron Clwyd, son of John Roberts and Catherine Tudor Hughes, on 1 August 1893.1 She died on 1 January 1951.1
From 1 August 1893, her married name became Roberts. After her marriage, Hannah Rushton Caine was styled as Baroness Clwyd on 19 May 1919.

John Trevor Roberts Roberts, 2nd Baron Clwyd was born on 28 November 1900.1 He was the son of John Herbert Roberts, 1st Baron Clwyd and Hannah Rushton Caine.2 He married Joan de Bois Murray, daughter of Charles Robert Murray, on 4 January 1932.1 He died in 1987.2
