     Professor Robert Langton Douglas was born on 1 March 1864.1 He was the son of Reverend Robert Douglas and Annie Johnson.1 He married, firstly, Margaret Jane Cannon, daughter of Percival Henry Cannon, in 1891.1 He and Margaret Jane Cannon were divorced in 1901.1 He married, secondly, Gwendolen Mary Henchman, daughter of Thomas Henchman, in 1902.1 He and Gwendolen Mary Henchman were divorced in 1927.1 He married, thirdly, Jean Stewart, daughter of John Stewart, in 1928.1 He died in 1951.1
     He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He lived at New York, U.S.A.G.1 He had two other sons by his first wife.1

     Air Marshal William Sholto Douglas, 1st and last Baron Douglas of Kirtleside was born on 23 December 1893.1 He was the son of Professor Robert Langton Douglas and Margaret Jane Cannon.1 He married, firstly, Beatrice May Hudd, daughter of Peter Hudd, on 1 August 1919 at Croydon, London, England.3 He and Beatrice May Hudd were divorced in 1932.1 He married, secondly, Joan Leslie Denny, daughter of Colonel H. C. Denny, on 7 September 1933.1 He and Joan Leslie Denny were divorced in 1952.1 He married, thirdly, Hazel Walker, daughter of George Eric Maas Walker, on 28 February 1955.1 He died on 30 October 1969 at age 75.1
     He was educated at Tonbridge School, Tonbridge, Kent, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Lincoln College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Field Artillery.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.1 He was commanding officer of the 43 and 84 Fighter Squadrons.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (D.F.C.)1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1940.1 He was Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Fighter Command between 1940 and 1942.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1941.1 He gained the rank of Air Vice Marshal in 1942.1 He was Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Middle East Command between 1942 and 1944.1 He was Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Coastal Command between 1944 and 1945.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1946.1 He gained the rank of Marshal of the Royal Air Force in 1946.1 He was created 1st Baron Douglas of Kirtleside, of Dornock, co.
