Robert Threshie Reid, 1st and last Baron Loreburn was born on 3 April 1846.1 He was the son of Sir James John Reid and Mary Threshie.1 He married, firstly, Emily Douglas Fleming, daughter of Captain A. C. Fleming, on 26 January 1871.1 He married, secondly, Violet Elizabeth Hicks-Beach, daughter of William Frederick Hicks-Beach and Elizabeth Caroline Tyrwhitt-Drake, on 3 December 1907.1 He died on 30 November 1923 at age 77, without issue.1
