Francis Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden of Gowran was born on 14 April 1883.1 He was the son of Thomas Charles Reginald Agar-Robartes, 6th Viscount Clifden of Gowran and Mary Dickenson.1 He died on 15 July 1966 at age 83, unmarried.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was with the Diplomatic Service between 1906 and 1927.2 He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) in 1909.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Cornwall.2 He was appointed Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.)2 He succeeded as the 7th Baron Mendip of Mendip, co. Somerset [G.B., 1794] on 19 July 1930.3 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Clifden, Baron of Gowran, co. Kilkenny [I., 1776] on 19 July 1930.1 He succeeded as the 7th Viscount Clifden of Gowran, co. Arthur Victor Agar-Robartes, 8th Viscount Clifden of Gowran was born on 9 June 1887.1 He was the son of Thomas Charles Reginald Agar-Robartes, 6th Viscount Clifden of Gowran and Mary Dickenson.1 He married, firstly, Patience Mary Basset, daughter of Arthur Francis Basset and Rebecca Harriet Buller Salusbury-Trelawny, on 17 November 1920.1 He and Patience Mary Basset were divorced in 1945.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Carter, daughter of Ray Carter, on 29 January 1948.1 He died on 22 December 1974 at age 87.1
