     Jane Calvert Henderson was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Mercer Henderson.2 She married Sir James Clerk of Penicuik, 7th Bt., son of Rt. Hon. Sir George Clerk of Penicuik, 6th Bt. and Maria Anne Law, on 26 June 1851.1 She died on 29 September 1895 at Penicuik House, Penicuik, Midlothian, ScotlandG.3
     From 26 June 1851, her married name became Clerk.1

     Lt.-Col. Sir George Douglas Clerk of Penicuik, 8th Bt. was born on 17 May 1852 at London, EnglandG.2 He was the son of Sir James Clerk of Penicuik, 7th Bt. and Jane Calvert Henderson.3 He married Aymée Elizabeth Georgiana Millikin-Napier, daughter of Sir Robert John Milliken-Napier of Merchistoun, 9th Bt. and Anne Salisbury Meliora Ladaveze Adlercron, on 4 January 1876 at St. John's Church, Johnstone, ScotlandG.2 He died on 30 November 1911 at age 59.1
     He matriculated at Exeter College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 15 October 1870.2 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Clerk, of Penicuik, Edinburgh [N.S., 1679] on 17 November 1870.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1872 in the 2nd Life Guards.1 He was Lieutenant-Colonel and Honorary Colonel of the 3rd Battalion, East Surrey between 1899 and 1904.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Midlothian.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Midlothian.1 He fought in the Boer War.1

     Sir George James Robert Clerk of Penicuik, 9th Bt. was born on 4 October 1876.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir George Douglas Clerk of Penicuik, 8th Bt. and Aymée Elizabeth Georgiana Millikin-Napier.2 He married Hon. Mabel Honor Dutton, daughter of Colonel Hon. Charles Dutton and May Arbuthnot Taylor, on 19 August 1903.1 He died on 21 November 1943 at age 67.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Battalion, Royal Scots.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Clerk, of Penicuik, Edinburgh [N.S., 1679] on 30 November 1911.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Midlothian.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Midlothian.1

     Hon. Mabel Honor Dutton was born on 9 February 1880.2 She was the daughter of Colonel Hon. Charles Dutton and May Arbuthnot Taylor.3,4 She was baptised on 20 March 1880 at Dover, Kent, England.2 She married Sir George James Robert Clerk of Penicuik, 9th Bt., son of Lt.-Col. Sir George Douglas Clerk of Penicuik, 8th Bt. and Aymée Elizabeth Georgiana Millikin-Napier, on 19 August 1903.1 She died on 23 June 1974 at age 94.1
     Hon. Mabel Honor Dutton usually went by her middle name of Honor. She was educated at Royal School, Bath, Somerset, EnglandG.4 On 7 May 1920 she was granted the rank of a baron's daughter.4

     Sir John Dutton Clerk of Penicuik, 10th Bt. was born on 30 January 1917.2 He was the son of Sir George James Robert Clerk of Penicuik, 9th Bt. and Hon. Mabel Honor Dutton.2 He married Evelyn Elizabeth Robertson, daughter of William Robertson, on 10 June 1944.2 He died on 25 October 2002 at age 85.2
     He was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Clerk, of Penicuik, Edinburgh [N.S., 1679] on 21 November 1943.1 He was awarded the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers' Decoration (V.R.D.)2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Midlothian in 1955.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Midlothian between 1956 and 1972.2 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Midlothian between 1965 and 1972.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1966.2 He retired from the military in 1967, with the rank of Commodore, late of the Royal Navy Reserve.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Midlothian between 1972 and 1992.2 He was admitted to Lieutenant of the Royal Company of Archers in 1973.2
